Using First-Date Conversation Deck

When to use this

Use this before a first date if you tend to fall back on interview-style questions, or during a lull if the conversation stalls. It is a warm-up, not a script to work through in order.

How to read the result

The prompts are grouped from light to more personal. Stay in the lighter groups until the conversation has warmed up on its own. A prompt that lands is one the other person expands on unprompted; if you get a short answer, move on rather than pressing.

What this tool cannot do

A conversation deck cannot create interest that is not there, and it should not be used to steer someone toward disclosure they have not offered. If a topic clearly closes down, that is an answer.

Next step

Pick two prompts you would genuinely enjoy answering yourself, because those are the ones most likely to open a real exchange rather than a polite one. Bring them loosely in mind rather than on your phone, and let the conversation leave them behind when it starts to flow.
